This afternoon June and I were warmly greeted by everyone in Nancy Long's prayer group which is studying St. Benedict's Toolbox by Jane Tomaine. The discussion was lively, full of good questions, and Nancy gave June and me considerable opportunity to talk about the Daily Office and the ecumenical Monastery of Mt. Tabor. Several in the group would like to explore the use of a good prayerbook, and so I'd like to ask that any of you who still have copies of Robert Jenson's Daily Prayer: A Little Book for Saying the Daily Office--and perhaps a copy of the CD that accompanies it--to bring those copies to our Thursday evening on January 31 so that we can share them with newly interested friends. As you well remember, Benson's introduction to the Daily Office helped many of us a year ago get our first taste of "fixed hour" daily prayer. Let's pass on the blessing!
Welcome to Praying Daily, maintained by Andy Harnack. Visiting this blog, you will notice that while it encourages all forms of prayer, the blog's special emphasis is the promotion of contemplative or centering prayer. Your comments are welcome.
