Turning Prayers into Action

Faith Lutheran Church has been publishing the following announcement in its Sunday bulletins for weeks now, and I thought I'd like to share it with you. It's an opportunity to turn your prayers in action:

WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP HURRICANE-TORN HAITI? Lots of you have asked me how the recent hurricanes in Haiti have affected Ranquitte, the small town where some of us have gone in recent months. The answer is "tragically." Mayor George Derval reports that about 145 homes have been destroyed, at least one person has died from flooding, mudslides have washed away much of the seedlng trees planted on the hillsides, and family vegetable gardens upon which people desperately depend have been washed away. The situation is catastrophic for this isolated little town. You can help. You can literally save someone's life. I'm not kidding. Go get your check book, write a check to "Christian Flights International," on the "memo" line write "hurrican relief," and send the check to Christian Flights International, 2150 Lexington Road, Suite J, Richmond, Kentucky 40475. Every penny you givbe will go to buy food, replacement seeds for gardens, and other emergency help. Thank you.

Pastor Lucky
